The weekends are unpredictable. We don't know how long the kids will sleep, we don't know what Grandma and Grandpa have planned for their day, and we can only try to anticipate what mood each person will be in before we come out of our room.
This morning was quiet. I could hear Grandma and Grandpa getting ready for church, but not the noisey way. Our daughter's door was closed, which means she was still in her room. I came out as quietly as I could. I didn't want to wake up Laura or the puppies. Of course, I first went to the restroom. Then, checked on our daughter. She was awake and reading her new book. We headed out into the kitchen. I made coffee and Kimmee made toast. She had gotten out the cream cheese, but I asked her to use butter instead. Laura uses cream cheese when she cooks sometimes. She went to get the butter and saw some strawberry cream cheese. It was almost gone, so I suggested she have one piece of toast with that and the other with butter.
We sat at the table together and talked about things a nine year old talks about. I told her about all the pets I had while growing up. Talking turned into laughing and joking about all kinds of random things.
